The late Mrs. Folake Aremu, popularly known as Orisabunmi, is a Yoruba Nollywood veteran. She was well known from the 80s for her roles as a priestess, pacifist, or the good witch in movies.

Here is everything you need to know her

  1. Orisabunmi was born on October 10, 1960, in Ilu Ola, Kwara state.
  2. She went to Ilu Ola Primary School and Secondary Commercial College.
  3. She never attended university.
  4. The veteran actress was discovered by her ex-husband in the 80s while working as a teacher in Kwara state.
  5. Her ex-husband, Nollywood veteran, Chief Jimoh Aliu (Aworo) had first noticed her and expressed his interest in her.
  6. After visiting him on set, Orisabunmi decided to try a role in a movie he was producing. He found that she was gifted in acting and decided to officially add her to the play.
  7. She soon began her career appearing in movies produced by Aworo.
  8. She first appeared in a stage play called ‘Ori Ma Binu’ but it was her role as ‘Orisabunmi’ in “Arelu” that made her a popular name in Nollywood in the 80s.
  9. Her appearance in other movies like “Again” and soap opera, “Yanponyanrin” cemented her place in the movie industry.
  10. She was trained by Chief Jimoh Aliu but her special ability to speak incantations comes from her upbringing.
  11. She was born into a family with a masquerade lineage so she already knew some incantations before she had to start acting.
  12. She married Chief Jimoh six years after she began her career but they are now divorced.
  13. He claimed in an interview with The Sun that she had absconded with another man.
  14. He said, “But when the devil struck, the agent that satan used to accomplish the mission was the man she eloped with.”
  15. There were also rumors about her dating King Sunny Ade but Aworo quickly shut them down, clearing the air that it never happened.
  16. Orisabunmi has been a part of the industry for 42 years and counting.
  17. She has played some iconic roles like ‘Asabi’ in “Oluwerimagboojo”, and the priestess in “Ayanmo Eda”.
  18. In more recent times, she played the role of ‘Eyegbemi’, a witch who tries to help her friend out of poverty in “Iya Alakara”.
  19. Folake Aremu has also produced her own movies such as, “Stupa Imole”, “Ase Ilu”, and “Tani O”.
  20. She looks up to other actresses like Iya Awero, Mama Efunsetan, and Mama Ogunde

She died on Tuesday night 5/01/2021.

Renowned Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke has criticized female content creators on social media for posting pictures of themselves online.

The former Big Brother Naija housemate pointed out in a lengthy post on his Instagram page how content creators hide their relationships while exposing their most private parts under the guise of making entertainment.

He also talked about how these women use phrases like “My body is my business,” “You can look but can’t touch,” and “You can’t tell a woman what to do with her body” as compliments.

The actor continued, saying that since everyone is a vigilante on the streets, all he is doing is advocating for safer streets and the growth of better men.

The young fashionista recently discussed the value of financial matching in dating relationships in a podcast.
She believes that she cannot date someone who is more financially successful than her since he would have to have the same level of drive to support her.

Kemi Olunloyo bashed her, pointing out that her mother dated pastors and governors when she was growing up, so it’s not all her fault but rather the result of her upbringing.

Afrobeats singer Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, better known as Mr. Eazi, has announced his marriage to Temi Otedola, an actress.

Mr. Eazi revealed that he is, in fact, married to the billionaire’s daughter in an interview with Naija 102 FM, debunking rumors that he and Temi Otedola were hiding their marriage and wedding.
He says that he didn’t keep their wedding a secret because the music video for his song “Legalize” included footage from their Venice wedding.

The singer claimed that the outfits they wore in the video went beyond simple costumes as he pleaded with viewers to see it again.
