20-year-old jailed 29 years for cultism, robbery
A Bayelsa State High Court sentenced 20-year-old Owei Mathew to 29 years in jail for cultism, robbery, and illegal gun possession.
The prisoner, who was born in Amasomma, in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state, was captured in September 2021 by security personnel.
Matthew reportedly broke into Festus Ezegwe’s house in the rear of Obele, close to Melford Okilo Road, and took N55,000 and a Samsung Android phone.

The accused was allegedly fighting with Festus Ezegwe and his wife as he tried to escape, and men from the Police Anti-Kidnapping Squad, under the command of CSP Nsimo Benson, arrested him.
