Mercy Aigbe is a Nigerian actress, filmmaker, director and businesswoman. She is best known for her Yoruba indigenous movies and her unique fashion styles.

 

Mercy Aigbe Biography

Mercy Aigbe was born to Pa. Aigbe and Mrs Abidola Grace family on 1st of January 1978 in Edo State and hails from the same state. She is the second child in a family of five. She attended Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School Ikeja, Lagos. She then proceeded to The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State, where she received her OND in Financial Studies and then The University of Lagos for a degree in Theater Arts. She graduated from the University in 2001. After 5 years she was lucky to become engaged in the world of Theatre.

Mercy Aigbe joined the industry fully in 2006, with the movie Ara. Before then, she had always wanted to act, but she didn’t know she would take it professionally until her OND days when it became a big deal to her. As a result, in 2001, she went to study Theatre Arts at the University of Lagos, so that she could become a professional actor. She founded “Mercy Aigbe Gentry School of Drama” in 2016. She is known for her unique style and dressing. At the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, Mercy Aigbe’s dress earned her great applause from fashion stakeholders, and she trended on social media even after ceremony, the dress was commended for its unique design. In November 2014, Aigbe launched her clothing store, Mag Divas Boutique in Lagos, then opened another outlet in Ibadan. She was awarded Fashion Entrepreneur of The Year at Links and Glitz World Awards.

 

Mercy Aigbe Personal life

She got married to a Nigerian hotelier, Lanre Gentry in 2013, she has two children; Juwon Gentry and Michelle Aigbe and three stepdaughters. In 2017, she shared photos of herself after allegedly being assaulted by her husband. She consequently separated from her husband due to claims of domestic violence, and started a campaign against it. In November 2014, she succeeded in opening Mag Divas Boutique. It is a luxurious clothing store. For her efforts, she was awarded a title – Fashion Entrepreneur of The Year. She acquired a multi-million naira mansion in 2018. she got herself a Toyota Prado in December, the same year she purchased the mansion.
