For the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to dethrone the current All Progressives Congress (APC) in next year’s elections. The party must strategize to make that ambition a reality.

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State revealed this on Monday through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Muhammad Bello. When former Senate President Bukola Saraki’s presidential bid contact and consultation team paid him a courtesy call.

The governor stated in the statement that PDP leaders are unified in their pursuit of a credible, strong, virile, purposeful, and focused leadership “with the goal of saving Nigeria.”

He urged President Muhammadu Buhari, who benefited from the PDP’s supervising of such polls in 2015. To “upgrade the process and the electoral system in Nigeria. So that, by the grace of God, when we win, he will transfer over to us as a party, God willing.”

He claimed that the people had been generous to Buhari since. Despite taking power in 1984, he was still chosen president by Nigerians. Emphasizing the necessity for him to prioritize the country’s interests over the APC’s.

“What he owes Nigeria now…is the establishment of protection of lives and property. As well as a free and fair electoral process,” Gov. Tambuwal emphasized.

He recommended the PDP to research and evaluate the recent bye-elections, in Abuja Municipal Area Councils, Cross River, Imo, Ondo, and Plateau states. Noting “issues in APC and taking lessons from these elections moving ahead.”

“We should not be carried away by winning that important and coveted Federal Constituency (Jos North) election,” the Governor cautioned. “but we should go down and be what we are: a party of people who are skilled in politics. Endowed with leaders who are very knowledgeable and skilful in the electoral processes and election management.”

Tambuwal, who is also the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum. Urged all stakeholders in the party to work together to achieve the same goal of delivering and rescuing Nigeria.
