Nollywood actress-turned-politician Tonto Dikeh claims that because of her track record of success in leadership roles, she is confident in her ability to be successful in her role as Deputy Governor of Rivers State.

As previously reported, Tonte Ibraye, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for governor in Rivers State, named actress Tonto Dikeh as his running mate for the state’s 2023 general election.

Tonto Dikeh discussed her candidacy for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in an interview with Channels Television, adding that while it has caused controversy, her decision to enter politics was well-considered and something she has been working on for at least three years.

“Honestly, I’m ready for anything. This is not something I suddenly came up with or came out with; I have had three years to work on it. We’ve had plenty of time to prepare for this and work on it. I’m prepared for both criticism and non-criticism. Therefore, it is irrelevant from where the queries are coming.”
“I’m not going to deny that I’ve failed in life. That has been witnessed by everybody. Will I fall short in my leadership, though? Have I been a bad leader? Talk about my foundation starting with parenthood and whether I’ve ever failed at it. I believe it was one of the institutions that defended this nation during the pandemic with no help at all. I took more action than the government did,” She spoke.
