INTERPOL alerts the world of plans by some criminal gangs to sell fake COVID 19 vaccines
The Covid 19 pandemic has been a threat to human life since it started, causing fear and crisis in people’s lives and also a business-related issue.
It is no longer news that the remedy for it is still in the look to allow people freely and connect once they experience the symptoms.
As the expectations of the world to produce covid 19 vaccines is just in a wait, the international criminal police organization INTERPOL has alleged that some criminal minds have included plans to sell fake COVID_19 vaccines to Nigeria and other countries in search for the treatment of the viral disease.
It is an understatement to say that the need for the COVID19 vaccine has become more urgent globally and nationally with Nigeria recording over 67,000 COVID_19 infections and over 1,000 associated fatalities.
WHO_World Health Organization has identified 49 “candidate vaccines” at the stage of clinical trials in humans by mid_November, up from 11 in middle_June.
A statement in December released said_INTETPOL’S Secretary-General, Jurgen Stock, said some criminals have started advertising and selling fake COVID_19 and flu vaccine online.
In the statement titled, ‘INTERPOL warns of organized crime threat to COVID-19 vaccines’, Jurgen said
“As governments are preparing to roll out vaccines, criminal organizations are planning to infiltrate or disrupt supply chains. Criminal networks will also be targeting unsuspecting members of the public via fake websites and false cures, which could pose a significant risk to their health, even their lives.
It is essential that law enforcement is as prepared as possible for what will be an onslaught of all types of criminal activity linked to the COVID-19 vaccine, which is why INTERPOL has issued this global warning.”
This is a case to be taken very seriously because criminals are ready to infiltrate what the Government is targeting.
