An American Prisoner, Ramiro Gonzales, has requested that his execution be postponed because he has the wish to donate his kidneys to someone who requires them, according to the report on ABC News.

The prisoner who has been on death row for about 14 years now was sentenced to death after he confessed to kil!ing a young woman, Bridget Townsend, in 2001.

According to ABC News, Ramiro has been scheduled to receive the lethal injection on the 13th of July but the prisoner, through his lawyers have sent a letter to the governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, asking that his execution date be shifted because he wants to give back life by donating his kidneys to a patient who may require the organs for transplant.

Interestingly, ABC News reported that the Texas Department of Criminal Justice policies indeed allow prisoners to make organ and tissue donations to the people who require them.

In regard to the request submission by Ramiro’s lawyers, the Texas board of pardons and paroles will be voting on July 11 on Ramiro’s request to donate his kidneys. However, it should be noted that the voting could go either ways. They may approve his request or reject it and carry on the execution on the scheduled date.
