Fikayo Tomori was Man of the Match as AC Milan stayed in the title hunt with a 2-1 win over Roma and he could now continue to keep out AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli from the first team.

Milan described the Chelsea loanee as “rock-solid” against Roma.

The defender made 6 decisive saves, 2 blocked shots and an interception.

He made more passes – 60 – than any other player on the pitch.

However, his direct rival for a starting spot is captain Romagnoli, who has been a pillar at Milan for the past five years.

Milan sports director Paolo Maldini has praised Tomori.

“He’s a guy who can make a difference physically, he has the ability to attack and defend in a four-way line,” he remarked.

“Football goes one-on-one but you must never lose the idea of compactness.

“He combines these two things very well, perhaps the problem is that he played very little (at Chelsea) for all his qualities.”
