Former Goodluck Jonathan aide Reno Omokri has given his perspective on the #JusticeforMohbad movement.

He argues that many Nigerians might not actually be looking for justice.

Instead, they seem to want to take violent action against people they have already determined to be responsible for the contentious death of former Marlian signee Mohbad.

Omokri asserts that the movement appears to be focused on fast punishing particular people who have been deemed “guilty” by the media, without leaving time for an appropriate investigation and legal procedures by the government.

Omokri sympathized with the Nigeria Police Force in a series of tweets, warning that despite their conclusions, they might not be enough to appease people seeking justice in Mohbad’s case.

He claims that these people have already named specific people they think should be held accountable, and that anything less would prompt them to question the police’s conclusions and accuse them of bias or bribery.

He said;

“Many Nigerians actually do not want #JusticeForMohBad. What they want is mob Justice against identified people they don’t like. To them, Justice For MohBad means that it just must be a certain person or persons.

“I am really feeling sorry for the @PoliceNG. If their report clears certain persons, some people will insist they have been bribed or otherwise compromised. They don’t want an investigation. They want an inquisition.
