The importance of liquid soap cannot be overemphasized, you take it or not, it has become very beneficial and natural to people especially when people see the need in using soda soap multi purposely.

It is becoming a very popular product in the country today, one thing that makes it popular is the cheaper and easier way it eases people.

It has become a very lucrative business and has help poverty decrease its rates especially for people who are surviving in a very little way.

You will read and learn from this article because it is very insightful. Note that there are other methods used to produce soap, but this one is just the best we have offered you.

THE CHEMICALS TO BE USED AND THEIR PROPORTION.

The ingredients or chemicals used to produce local soaps are not expensive or far fetch, they are available as long as it doesn’t take an exorbitant price to get the ingredients.

The below ingredients are for 20 liters of soap;

CAUSTIC SODA_1/16KG (I.e 62.5g)
NITROSOL_1/16KG(I.e 62.5g)
SODA ASH_1/8KG(sodium carbonate)_1/8kg
SLS(Sodium Lauryl sulfate)_1/8kg
SULPHONIC ACID_1 and half Ltr
STPP_1/16 KG
TEXAPON_1/8KG
FOAM BOOSTER_1/6Ltr
FORMALIN_10CL
COLOUR_AS DESIRED
GLYCERIN_OPTIONAL
PERFUME_OPTIONAL
VITAMIN E_OPTIONAL

FUNCTIONS AND DESCRIPTION OF CHEMICALS USED FOR LIQUID SOAP PRODUCTION

WATER
Water is life, water is the process, water is the dissolver, water has the lead for this very thing. Water is what will dissolve the ingredients and also during the fermentation phase.

NITROSOL/ANTISOL

This helps as a thickener in the production of the liquid soap. It has a whitish substance and has the texture of powdered milk. It will dissolve immediately in water, but antisocial takes a longer time to dissolve in water.

CAUSTIC SODA

It is actually a whitish crystalline substance that looks so much like a sample of granulated sugar. It forms a strong base when dissolving in water and can be corrosive I’d in contact with the skin.

It serves as a stain remover and is an essential ingredient in the soap making process.

SODA ASH_SODIUM CARBONATE
It is also a whitish substance but with many coarse grains, it serves to regulate the concentration of the caustic soda which ordinarily is corrosive to the skin. It helps to neutralize it.

TEXAPON

Texapon is a sticky in nature, pasty and jellylike substance, it also functions as a foaming agent and serves as a foaming booster room.

SULPHONI ACID

This is a dark looking liquid substance. It serves to boost the performance of the SLS, it is also a foaming and cleaning agent. Please the word spells S-U-L-P-H-O-N-I-C and not S-U-L-P-H-U-R-I-C. The latter is a very strong acid and can be very corrosive. please beware.

FORMALIN

The preservative agent. It should be used in the soap is to be stored for a long time like six months, especially if one is producing for commercial purposes. Please you can do without this chemical. It is very harmful if abused, it can cause CANCER.

COLOUR

This normally comes as a powder and should be diluted with water before adding to the soap mixture. The color adds beauty to the finished product. Most producers go in green color.

GLYCERIN
It helps your skin to remain hydrated and soft after using the soap.

PERFUME

Perfume gives fragrance to the soap. This is very important to appeal to the sense of smell.

VITAMIN E
This conceals the soap not to get spoilt, it also protects the skin from damage and wrinkles.

HOW TO PREPARE_REQUIREMENTS

PREPARING STAGE

1_Dissolve the caustic soda before the production process by dissolving with 1litre of water and allowing for 24 hours or overnight.

2_Dissolve the soda Ash, I.e, with a liter of water and keep overnight for fermentation to take place.

3_Dissolve the Nitrosol with 10 liters of water in a bigger mixer bowl before production. You can add Antisol if you don’t like Nitrosol. Dissolve in water and keep it for 48 hours.

4_ Dissolve the SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) in 1 liter of water to produce a clear solution before production; keep it aside. This should be done at least one hour before production. If you want it to dissolve well, dissolve in water, and leave overnight.

Also, dissolve the STPP(Sodium Tripolyphosphate) in a liter of water before production and keep aside too.

Continue by mixing the Texapon and Sulphonic Acid together. Mix them well and dissolve further with 2litres of water, stir it very well for it to dissolve.

Dissolve the powdered color with a small quantity of water and keep aside.

Gently pour the dissolved mixture of Sulphonic Acid and Texapon into the mixing bowl containing dissolved Nitrosol(or Antisol}. Stir very well and gently until the mixture becomes homogenous. You need patience here.

Dissolve all the ingredients together and finally add water to everything to complete the process.

Must have an appealing fragrance,
Must not cause irritation to the skin.
