US adds Nigeria to blacklist on religious freedom

Glaringly, this is the first time this is happening that the U.S government is adding Nigeria to a blacklist on religious freedom.

On Monday, December 7, the united states government added Nigeria to a religious freedom blacklist.

The addition of Nigeria to the list for the first time pages way for potential sanctions if there is no proper improvement on the record.

Mike Pompeo who is the Secretary of state said that the united states designated Nigeria, which is a US ally as a country of particular concern under the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 for religious freedom, for engaging “systematic, ongoing, egregious violations of religious freedom”.

This is what Pompeo twisted;
Today the U.S. designates Burma, China, Eritrea, Iran, Nigeria, the DPRK, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan as countries of concern under the International Religious Freedom
Act of 1998 for engaging systematic, ongoing, egregious religious freedom violations.

The U.S. is unwavering in its commitment to religious freedom. No country or entity should be allowed to persecute people with impunity because of their beliefs. These annual designations show that when religious freedom is attacked, we will act.

Nigeria now joins nations like China, Iran, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia on the list. Other nations on the blacklist are Eritrea, Myanmar, North Korea, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

U.S government is concern about the whole thing, it is set to be an eyesore, so dirty in the eye, that is why it needs to be removed with carefulness.

Nigeria has never been on this kind of list long before now, but it a scary sentence to write about that Nigeria is actually part of it.

To scrap out political blindness and make people see the need of doing good things. Even President Buhari is waking up already.
