Why Burna Boy is the ‘biggest African artist’ – Grammy organisers

The organizers of the Grammy Awards make the point that Burna Boy, a Nigerian singer also known by his stage name Damini Ogulu, is a biggest figure in the Afrobeats genre and among African musicians.

This praise was included in a statement that was just posted on their website and openly congratulated Burna Boy and the other contenders for the 2024 Grammy Awards’ inaugural Best African Music Performance category.

The Grammys emphasized Burna Boy’s importance by listing his outstanding collaborations with well-known artists like Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran.

They also mentioned his accomplishment of being the first UK No. 1 album this year with “I Told Them,” an album with guest performances from 21 Savage, J. Cole, RZA, and GZA with a traditional hip-hop influence.

The Academy said, “There’s not a bigger star in Afrobeats, or even the whole of Africa itself, than Burna Boy.

He nabbed two consecutive Best Global Album GRAMMY nods for his albums Twice as Tall and African Giant, and he’s also collaborated with global stars such as Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber.”
