According to the elders, when a parent engages in a job or profession, it is advisable but not mandatory for their children to follow their path. In this article, we are going to share more insights about YORUBA STARS WHO JOINED ACTING THROUGH THEIR VETERAN ACTOR PARENTS. 

 

1.    SOLA KOSOKO

Sola Kosoko, otherwise known as Sola Kosoko Abina, is a Nigerian film actress and director. She was born on January 7, 1980.

She attended Methodist School in Yaba for both her elementary and secondary education.   In a pursuit for furthering her education, she attended Olabisi Onabanjo Univeristy where she bagged a degree in Sociology.  She is the daughter of Jide Kosoko; a popular actor as well.

JOURNEY TO FAME

This popular actor started acting as a child in the year 1987 in the movie ‘Omo Orukan’. Sola however usually says her father and people like Baba Suwe influenced her career positively as an actor. According to her, her main aim was to become a lawyer or a broadcaster. The major films which brought fame for her was ‘Ola Abata’ in 1999 followed by ‘Oko Irese’ and ‘Omo Olorire’.

According to Sola , she said her father was the one that introduced her to the industry at a start. Initially, she said she didn’t like it. The main reason behind her negligence to acting was that it wasn’t in her plan for the future, all her aim was to become either a lawyer of a broadcaster; but presently, I think she is one of the best actors in Nigeria.

 

2.  FEMI ADEBAYO

Femi Adebayo was born on the 13th of December, 1970. He is a Nigerian Lawyer, film actor, director, producer and Special Adviser to the Governor of Kwara State on Arts, Culture and Tourism. He is the son of the famous veteran actor Adebayo Salami. He attended C & S College for his secondary education. He then went to the University of Ilorin, where he bagged a bachelor’s degree in Law. He later earned a master’s degree in Law at the University of Ibadan.

JOURNEY TO FAME

Adebayo’s love for acting was built in him, when he saw his father on the TV for the very first time. Then when he grew up he subsequently sojourned into acting. His father noticed his interest in acting and decided to give him 100% support in every area, even after he finished with the Law degree.

He started acting in the year 1985, the same year he featured in his father’s first movie titled ‘Ogun Ajaye’.    Since then Femi Adebayo have been making exploits in the entertainment industry. The film he produced in the year 2012 titled Jelili also made him attractive to his fans than before.      Today, Femi Adebayo is being awarded with many honors pertaining acting.

3. Tope Adebayo

Temitope Adebayo is a  notable Nollywood actor and movie director who joined acting through the mentorship of his father. He is also a son to veteran actor, Adebayo Salami and younger brother to Actor Femi Adebayo.

He bagged a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering from the Univeristy of Ilorin. He also choose the path his father and his elder brother.

4. Bidemi Kosoko

This beautiful and charming Nollywood actress also choose her father’s profession. Bidemi Kosoko who is also a movie producer and entrepreneur is a daughter to Yoruba veteran actor, Jide Kosoko and younger sister to Actress Sola Kosoko.

She is a graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Lagos. She has featured in several Nollywood movies, both English and Yoruba genres. She is a mother of 1 and happily married to Daniel Bankole.

5. Mide Martins

Mide Martins is a Nollywood actress, movie producer and entrepreneur. She is the daughter of late veteran actress Funmi Martins who was also a famous  Nollywood star in the 1990s.  Funmi Martins’ acting career lasted for less than 10 years, as a result of her sudden death in 2002.

She decided to venture into her late mother’s career as a form of remembrance; a decision which Mide Martins never regretted as she couldn’t imagine pursuing another career. Since the death of her mother,  she having been building legendary in the industry till now.

6.  Samuel Ajirebi

Samuel Olasehinde popularly known as Samuel Ajirebi is a Nollywood actor.  He is the son of veteran actor, Ajirebi Kayode Olasehinde popularly known as Pa James in popular TV series, Papa Ajasco and Company, a Wale Adenuga Productions

Pa James tends to be a very talented actor, and he built the same legacy for his son Ajirebi.

Samuel Ajirebi is a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University where he studied Law.   He started acting at a young age and he has grown to become a fast-rising Nollywood star.

7. Laide Bakare

Laide Bakare is a Nigerian actress, movie producer and entrepreneur.  She is a daughter to late veteran actor, Olumide Bakare who died while suffering from a disease in 2017.

She hails from Oyo State. Moreover, she bagged a diploma in Historic and Strategic Studies from the University of Lagos. 

8.  Muka Ray

Nollywood actor and movie producer, Muka Ray is a son to late veteran actor, Eyiwumi Ray who was dynamic around 1970s. Eyiwumi Ray passed on April 15, 1986.
Muka Ray graduated from Kwara State Polytechnic. He started his acting career at a youthful age with the inspiration of his veteran actor father. He has acted in several Yoruba movies which include ‘Abore’, ‘Adele’, ‘Obaluaye’, ’36 Kiniun’, so on.
9.  Lasun Ray
Yoruba actor, movie director and producer, Lasun Ray is likewise a son to late veteran actor, Eyiwumi Ray.
Lasun Ray studied Computer Science and started his acting career in 1972, when stage plays were still rampant before the advent of movies in Nigeria.
His first feature movie is titled ‘Korede’. He has acted in several Nollywood movies which include ‘Opin Irinajo’, ‘Ejika’, ‘Eewo Orisa’, and so forth.
10.   Sunkanmi Omobolanle
Nollywood actor and movie director, Olasunkanmi Omobolanle is a son popular Yoruba comic actor, ‘Papi Luwe’ with the real name, Sunday Omobolanle who was known for his hilarious movie roles around 1980s to 2000s.
Sunkanmi Omobolanle, who  hails from Ilora, Oyo state graduated from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye where he studied Business Administration. He was persuaded by his dad who is a veteran actor to join the acting league.
Sunkanmi Omobolanle has truly demonstrated his ability in acting. He has featured in several Yoruba movies which include ‘Gongo Aso’, ‘Olaide Irawo’, and so forth.

“They hide their man yet show us their body parts” – Gideon Okeke takes a swipe at female content creators

Renowned Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke has criticized female content creators on social media for posting pictures of themselves online.

The former Big Brother Naija housemate pointed out in a lengthy post on his Instagram page how content creators hide their relationships while exposing their most private parts under the guise of making entertainment.

He also talked about how these women use phrases like “My body is my business,” “You can look but can’t touch,” and “You can’t tell a woman what to do with her body” as compliments.

The actor continued, saying that since everyone is a vigilante on the streets, all he is doing is advocating for safer streets and the growth of better men.

Priscilla Ojo, the daughter of Iyabo Ojo, was severely rebuked by well-known journalist Kemi Olunloyo for declaring that she will never date a man who is less wealthy than her.

The young fashionista recently discussed the value of financial matching in dating relationships in a podcast.
She believes that she cannot date someone who is more financially successful than her since he would have to have the same level of drive to support her.

Her statements, however, caused quite a stir online as several people felt them to be highly provocative.

Kemi Olunloyo bashed her, pointing out that her mother dated pastors and governors when she was growing up, so it’s not all her fault but rather the result of her upbringing.

Mr Eazi confirms marital status, opens up on his private wedding to Temi Otedola in Venice

Afrobeats singer Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, better known as Mr. Eazi, has announced his marriage to Temi Otedola, an actress.

Mr. Eazi revealed that he is, in fact, married to the billionaire’s daughter in an interview with Naija 102 FM, debunking rumors that he and Temi Otedola were hiding their marriage and wedding.
He says that he didn’t keep their wedding a secret because the music video for his song “Legalize” included footage from their Venice wedding.

The singer claimed that the outfits they wore in the video went beyond simple costumes as he pleaded with viewers to see it again.

He said: “Who told you it was a secret wedding? Go and watch the video of my song ‘Legalize’ you will get the answer to your question. We shot the video in Venice.
