Team Nigeria has secured yet another gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, finishing ahead of England and Jamaica, in the 4x100m Women’s relay race.

Inspired by the Commonwealth Games 100m hurdles champion, Tobi Amusan, the Nigerian team on Sunday won the relay race with a new African record of 42.10 seconds.

The team, comprising of Tobi Amusan, Favour Ofili, Rose Chukwuma and Grace Nwokocha emerged as winners of the 4x100m Women’s relay race, making it Nigeria’s 11th gold medal in Birmingham and a historic Commonwealth Games medal.

Record-setting Tobi Amusan started the race for Nigeria and expertly handed over the baton to Favour Ofili who won the medal for Nigeria.

Earlier, the quartet of Udodi Onwuzurike, Favour Ashe, Alaba Akintola and Raymond Ekevwo also gave a good show to secure the bronze medal in the men’s 4x100m event won by the English team.

Nigeria has now equalled her best-ever show at the Commonwealth Games and is on course to make it the best ever with at least two more gold medal possibilities.

“Legbegbe welcome back” -Nigerians react as Toyin Abraham’s ex-lover Seun Egbegbe regains freedom after 3 years

on

Nollywood actress, Toyin Aimaku‘s ex-lover, Olajide Kareem, better known as Seun Egbegbe, has regained his freedom after spending roughly three years and six months in prison.

He was locked up on February 10, 2017, after obtaining money by false pretence from no fewer than 40 bureaus de change operators in different parts of Lagos from 2015 to 2017.

Seun Egbegbe, who was the boss of Ebony Production, allegedly swindled the BDC operators out of money by claiming that he had naira to change into foreign currencies and vice versa.

He had been arraigned by the police for a series of fraud involving N39,098,100, $90,000 and £12,550. Egbegbe and one Oyekan Ayomide were first arraigned on February 10, 2017, before Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo, on 36 counts bordering on advance fee fraud.

The charge sheet was subsequently amended twice, with the counts eventually increased to 40 and three other defendants – Lawal Kareem, Olalekan Yusuf and Muyideen Shoyombo.
In a recent development, Federal High Court, Ikoyi has found Egbegbe guilty of just one of the 44 Counts charges after reviewing his case.

Toyin Aimaku’s ex-lover was set free yesterday 11th October 2022. Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo declared that 43 of the 44 Count charges were dismissed because of a lack of witnesses to substantiate their claims.
She also denounced that the prosecuting team failed in the responsibility to produce evidence, to be backed with witnesses.

Lamenting that police tampered with the money recovered from the suspects, Justice Oguntoyinbo also ruled that all the money recovered from Egbegbe as evidence should be returned to him.
Nigerians welcomed Seun Egbegbe back after spending three years in prison with hard labour. Some reactions are shown below:
